House boat classifications
The highest classifications awarded by Dept. of Tourism for Houseboats are Gold Star and Silver Star. All the Houseboats deal by us are either Silver Star or Gold Star. A normal Deluxe A/c Houseboat includes the following facilities:
- Front living area and bedrooms have a beautiful wooden ceiling with overlapping logs.
- The lighting in the living area of the Deluxe A/c Houseboat will be provided with lamps with candles to provide an ideal, romantic setting for the boat.
- The houseboat will be manned by 3 men – a captain, an engine driver and a cook. All the staff members are from the locality with some training in hospitality aspects. They speak the local language – Malayalam, but can understand English because of their experience in the field.
- Each room in the Deluxe A/c Houseboat has a dressing mirror, luggage compartment, wardrobe, attached bathrooms and air-conditioning.
- The kitchen, at the rear of the boat, is complete with a modern equipment and ambience, even though it is for use for the staff only. A fridge is also part of the equipment level.
- The houseboats are certified by Department of Tourism, Government of Kerala in two categories – Golden and Silver. The golden category houseboats have more spacious rooms, tiled toilets, hand held shower, kitchen, sit out and an overall better service.
- You are free to tip the crew as it will help to supplement their income earned during the 6 month season.
Luxury
With its plush interiors, aesthetically done up designs, huge lounge and spacious rooms, a cruise in the luxury houseboat ensures a cosy getaway. The lounge and bedrooms usually have a rich wooden ceiling that adds up to its chic ambience. Furnished with the choicest linen and luxuriant three poster bed.
Deluxe
Deluxe house boats are the next category of boats in its features. In case you are on the lookout for a decent cruise option without a high price tag, then deluxe house boats are just for you. These boats have well furnished interiors with wooden decor and comfortable seating. The bedrooms are tastefully furnished and have all modern facilities.
Standard houseboats would allow you to plan a cruise without overstretching your budget. The best part is that this easy priced option ensures a pleasurable cruise without cutting down on the conveniences on offer. Mostly the Standard/Budget Houseboats are Non AC Category.
